About China Service Venture…..
China Service Ventures (CSV) is answering the call to resume the rich array of servant ministries to the poorest-of-the-poor in China that were provided by our missionaries until wars and the 1949 founding of The Peoples’ Republic of China prevented continuation of such work.
Focused primarily on serving impoverished villagers in south Henan province, CSV seeks to live out Christ’s “not to be served, but to serve,” in word and in deed. As trusting relationships grow, new doors are being opened in surprising and challenging ways.
One key thrust is the “Bo Ai” (Boundless Love) program enabling village children to continue in school or, for those in dire circumstances to receive special assistance. Eighty Bo Ai youth can attend high school every year, a rare privilege for even the brightest of village kids. Other programs bring enrichment and encouragement to many “stay behind” children as their parents work in far-off cities. Summer youth camps led by counselors from the US, Hong Kong and China, are literally life-changing for many.
Also, after patient preparation, CSV introduced the Bethel Bible Series in mainland China in the spring of 2007. Over thirty classes in several provinces are underway, with more trainers prepared every spring and fall. The Bethel Series is becoming a huge blessing as it is spread throughout China’s churches, fast-growing but starved for trained leadership and sound resources, thus often wracked with heresies and extremes. The stories told by Pastor Qiu Lin when he returns from Bethel seminars in China are dramatic, to say the least.
CSV is a Lutheran faith mission seeking new partners – individuals or congregations -- who will invest their prayers and financial support; also volunteers to teach English in colleges, or do health and development work.
Consider the next “Missionary Trail” trip to east-central China in late April 2012 to experience the China normally off-limits to tourists, and to visit the work being accomplished. Call 651-659-1396, write to 1407 Cleveland Ave N, St Paul, MN 55108, or email
