Mindekirken’s ministries and programs depend on faithful and consistent giving. To help facilitate this, the church offers Simply Giving®, an automated giving program as a way to put our stewardship plan into action.
Simply Giving® is endorsed by Thrivent Financial Bank and is a safe and reliable way to give conveniently. By setting up a recurring contribution that comes out of your account, you are taking a step of faith to give your “first fruits” to God. Because your gift is given consistently you won’t need to play “catch-up” at year end or worry about forgotten checkbooks or missed Sunday offerings. Mindekirken benefits from more consistent revenues, more efficient and cost-effective bookkeeping, and the ability to better plan for its necessary financial commitments.
It is simple to sign up. Just download and complete the authorization form below, attach a voided check from your account, and drop it in the offering plate or mail it back to our bookkeeper, Magne Hatlevik, at the church office. Once it is processed, your giving will be automatically deducted from your designated checking or savings account.

Simply Giving® Program Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do you have to be a member of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans to participate in the Simply Giving® program?
A: No. This program is available to anyone whose church or Lutheran institution is participating and to any parent whose child is enrolled in a participating Lutheran school.
Q: How does the Simply Giving® program work?
A: Your offerings are transferred electronically from your bank or credit union checking or savings account. They are deposited directly into your congregation’s, school’s, or Lutheran institution’s account. As a result, your contributions cannot be lost, stolen or forgotten.
Q: Are there any fees involved with the program?
A: No. There are no fees charged to individuals. Mindekirken pays a transaction fee at the bank, which costs less than we pay for processing paper checks.
Q: From what types of bank accounts may I give?
A: You may have funds transferred from a checking or savings account. Once you authorize the transfer, your specified contribution is electronically transferred from the designated account to the church’s bank account.
Q: May I give with my credit card?
A: Not with the Simply Giving® program. Credit card companies charge a large transaction fee, thus reducing the amount of the gift that would be available for church ministry. A more cost effective way to give by credit card is PayPal. Read more about PayPal.
Q: What is the minimum amount a person may have withdrawn for a contribution?
Q: If I do not write checks, how will I keep my checkbook balance straight?
A: Since your contribution is made on a pre-established date each month you simply record it in your check register on the appropriate date. All contributions will be clearly listed on the monthly checking or savings account statement you receive from your financial institution.
Q: How often can funds be withdrawn electronically from my account?
A: Mindekirken offers two monthly options: the 1st or the 15th of each month. If the date falls on a weekend or holiday, the funds will be withdrawn on the next business day.
Q: Can contributions be directed to specific funds within the church?
A: Yes. Contributions can be directed to specific funds in the church or to a unified budget.
Q: May I change my information, account, make a temporary stop payment or change the amount that is being withdrawn from my account?
A: Yes. You can suspend, change or stop withdrawals by contacting the church office. If you are not able to reach the church, you may contact Vanco Services, LLC or Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. Changes should be requested at least five business days before the transfer is scheduled to take place.
Q: I like to place my offering in the collection plate as an act of worship. Doesn’t Simply Giving® prevent me from doing this?
A: You may always give during a worship service even if you are participating in Simply Giving®. Also there are Simply Giving cards in the pew racks stating “My offering is automatically sent by my bank to Mindekirken”. Take a card and drop it into the offering plate as it is passed as a symbol of your gratitude to God and of your support of the church’s ministries.
Q: If I don’t have a cancelled check, how can I prove I made my contribution?
A: Mindekirken will include your automatic gifts on your contribution statement and your bank statement gives you a list of electronic transfers.
Q: What if I try Simply Giving® and then decide to cancel?
A: You can cancel your authorization at any time by notifying the church office and filling out a form that discontinues the automatic withdrawal of funds. If you are not able to reach the church, you may contact Vanco Services, LLC or Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. Changes should be requested at least five business days before the transfer is scheduled to take place.
Q: Who do I talk to if I have more questions about Simply Giving®?
A: Simply Giving® is administered by Vanco Services, LLC, an outside vendor that Thrivent Financial for Lutherans has contracted with to provide administrative services.
